Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has revealed that actor Ranbir Kapoor may have played an indirect role in inspiring his son, Vir Hirani, to pursue acting.
Vir had assisted his father on films like Sanju and PK, and Hirani always expected him to become a director. However, after working closely with Ranbir during Sanju, Vir decided he wanted to act instead.
Hirani admitted he initially tried to change his son's mind, but Vir reminded him of the message from 3 Idiots to follow one's heart.
Vir then spent six to seven years training in theatre and acting before independently auditioning for the web series Pritam and Pedro.
Director Avinash Arun selected him based on his talent rather than family connections.
Addressing nepotism, Hirani said he ignored the criticism and believes that only talent and hard work can ensure long-term success.
