Switzerland Beat Algeria 2-0 to Book FIFA World Cup Round of 16 Spot

Switzerland secured their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 with a convincing 2-0 victory over Algeria, continuing their impressive unbeaten run in the tournament.

Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute after finishing a well-worked counterattack created by young midfielder Johan Manzambi. The early goal allowed Switzerland to dictate the pace of the match while maintaining a disciplined defensive shape.

The Swiss doubled their lead just after the start of the second half when Dan Ndoye capitalised on a defensive mistake to beat goalkeeper Luca Zidane. Despite enjoying periods of possession, Algeria failed to break through Switzerland's organised defence, with captain Riyad Mahrez unable to inspire a comeback.

Head coach Murat Yakin praised his team's tactical discipline and defensive organisation after the victory. Switzerland will now face either Colombia or Ghana in the Round of 16 as they continue their quest for a deep World Cup run.
