Heavy monsoon rains have severely disrupted normal life across several parts of Gujarat, with flood-like conditions reported in Junagadh, Jamnagar, Surat, Gir Somnath, Dang, Tapi and other districts of south Gujarat.
Low-lying areas have been inundated, cutting off road connectivity and affecting daily life. Rescue and relief teams have been deployed in vulnerable areas as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
In Junagadh district, several people and vehicles were stranded after the water level rose suddenly near Samdhiyala village. Fire department personnel launched a rescue operation and safely evacuated everyone trapped in the floodwaters. No casualties were reported.
In Jamnagar's Dhrol region, continuous rainfall submerged major roads, leaving several vehicles, including school buses carrying children, stranded. Residents in some areas were forced to wade through waist-deep water.
Mangrol in Junagadh recorded the highest rainfall in the state, while Mendarda, Keshod and Maliya Hatina also witnessed intense showers. Heavy rainfall was also recorded in Dang, Surat, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad. More than 225 talukas across Gujarat received significant rainfall, causing rivers and reservoirs to swell rapidly.
The state administration has intensified surveillance in vulnerable areas and placed disaster response teams on high alert. Residents have been advised to avoid waterlogged areas, follow weather advisories and cooperate with local authorities during emergencies.
The India Meteorological Department has warned that the monsoon remains active and heavy rainfall is likely to continue in several parts of the state over the coming days.
