A major accident took place in Pune's Pimpri-Chinchwad area on Wednesday afternoon when a section of an under-construction building at a Waste-to-Energy project collapsed. According to preliminary reports, 15 to 20 workers are feared trapped beneath the debris.
Fire brigade personnel, police, and disaster response teams rushed to the site soon after the incident. Rescue teams are working continuously to remove the debris and safely evacuate those trapped. Several ambulances have also been deployed to provide immediate medical assistance.
The project is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be determined. Officials said their immediate priority is to rescue the trapped workers, and the exact number of casualties or injuries will be confirmed only after the rescue operation is completed.
