Woman murder solved after 40 days, husband arrested

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district have solved the murder of a woman who had been missing for nearly 40 days. According to investigators, the victim, identified as Satyavati, was allegedly murdered by her husband with the help of others.

Police said the body was initially hidden inside a household septic pit before being taken out a few days later and allegedly burned in an attempt to destroy evidence.

A case has been registered against six people on charges including murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. Three accused have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining suspects.

Satyavati, a resident of Sarva village, disappeared on June 1. On the same night, the body of her brother-in-law was found hanging from a tree near the village. Following a complaint from the woman's family, police launched an investigation into her disappearance.

During questioning, police grew suspicious of the husband and later claimed to have uncovered details of the alleged crime. Investigators believe the victim was strangled before her body was concealed and later burned.

Police recovered several pieces of evidence from the scene, including burnt bangles, clothing, partially burnt wood and a plastic rope. Officials said the investigation is continuing, and all possible motives, including family disputes and suspected extramarital issues, are being examined.
