Monsoon activity continues across Uttar Pradesh, bringing rainfall to several districts. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit Ayodhya during the night, causing waterlogging on the Bhakti Path leading to the Ram Temple. Lucknow, Sambhal, Hathras, Deoria, and Agra also received rainfall.
In Lucknow, nearly three hours of overnight rain caused waterlogging in several localities. Continuous rainfall in the Himalayan region has increased the water levels of major rivers across the state.
In Mathura, the Yamuna River has risen significantly, submerging several steps of the famous Keshi Ghat in Vrindavan. Although the river remains below the warning level, officials are closely monitoring the situation.
The Ganga and Yamuna have also risen in Prayagraj, while the Ganga's water level is increasing in Kanpur. In Ballia, riverbank erosion along the Saryu and Ghaghara rivers has forced several families to move to safer locations.
The Meteorological Department has issued rain, thunderstorm, and lightning alerts for 33 districts. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
Weather experts say dry winds arriving from Pakistan have weakened monsoon activity across much of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in rainfall remaining around 22 percent below normal this season. However, if a fresh low-pressure system develops over the Bay of Bengal, rainfall is expected to intensify again in the coming days.
