Opposition Backs Students After INDI Alliance Meeting

*New Delhi:* Political activity intensified over the NEET-UG paper leak issue as senior leaders of the INDI Alliance met at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's residence in New Delhi to discuss education-related concerns and the ongoing student protests.

The meeting was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and several Members of Parliament from different opposition parties.

After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said the opposition leaders were proceeding peacefully to Gandhi Smriti. In a social media post, he stated that the visit was intended to express solidarity with students and to remember those whose deaths the opposition has linked to the examination controversy. He also said students who were injured during recent demonstrations deserve justice and accountability, adding that the opposition stands with them.

Following the meeting, opposition MPs travelled together to Gandhi Smriti. Leaders reiterated their demand for greater transparency in examinations, stronger safeguards against paper leaks and accountability wherever lapses are established.

Meanwhile, the Union Government reiterated that it is prepared to discuss the NEET-UG issue in Parliament. Union Minister J.P. Nadda said the government is ready for a detailed discussion for as long as necessary.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also said that the government had made multiple offers for dialogue with the protesters and remained willing to discuss all issues related to the movement. According to him, protesters were invited for talks at the residence or office of the Union Health Minister.

However, representatives of CJP said any meeting should take place either at Jantar Mantar or at a mutually agreed neutral venue.

The issue is expected to remain a major subject of debate during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, with both the government and the opposition maintaining their respective positions while expressing readiness for discussion.
