13 Killed After Massive Rock Crushes Vehicle in Lahaul-Spiti

A devastating road accident occurred on Friday in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district, where a Tata Sumo taxi was struck by massive rocks falling from a hillside near Kadu Nala on the Udaipur-Killar (Tandi-Sansari National Highway). The incident claimed the lives of 13 people.

According to preliminary information, around 14 people, including the driver, were travelling in the vehicle. The passengers had reportedly stayed overnight in Tindi after the road remained closed a day earlier. Once the route reopened, they resumed their journey toward Pangi, but the vehicle was hit by falling rocks and debris.

Rescue teams from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), local police, and district administration immediately reached the accident site. The rescue operation continues under challenging conditions due to continuous landslides and bad weather.

Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the victims. The administration has urged the public to rely only on official updates and avoid sharing or believing unverified information.
