Delhi Police Seeks Account Details Over Offensive Posts

Delhi Police has initiated an investigation into alleged offensive and defamatory social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other constitutional office holders. As part of the investigation, the police have issued a notice to social media platform *X*, asking it to remove or block the concerned posts and provide complete details of the accounts responsible for publishing them.

According to the police, certain posts circulating on social media allegedly contain objectionable and defamatory content directed at constitutional authorities. Officials are examining the material and collecting digital evidence to determine whether any laws have been violated.

In its notice, Delhi Police has requested detailed information about the account holders, including their registered name, address, mobile number, email ID, account registration details, login and logout records, IP logs, and other technical information. Investigators intend to use these details to identify the individuals responsible for uploading the content.

The police have also directed the platform to preserve all records, videos, posts, and digital evidence related to the matter so they remain available during the investigation. Authorities have further requested any additional technical information that could assist the inquiry, along with the required legal certification under applicable provisions.

The investigation began after several videos and social media posts circulated widely following recent protests. Complaints alleged that some of the content was defamatory, malicious, and targeted constitutional offices, prompting the police to begin collecting digital evidence.

Officials stated that the investigation is currently underway and that any further legal action will depend on the evidence gathered during the inquiry. No final conclusions have been announced at this stage.
