Families of Delhi Police personnel injured during the violence at the CJP protest held at Jantar Mantar on July 20 shared their experiences during a press conference on Friday. They said the incident not only left several police officers injured but also caused deep emotional trauma to their families.
The wife of an injured ACP recalled the painful night when her husband returned home after duty with serious injuries. She said his uniform was soaked in blood, and the sight deeply frightened their two-year-old daughter. According to her, the incident left the child terrified, making it one of the most difficult moments for the family.
Relatives of other injured police personnel also described the emotional impact of the incident. They stated that the officers were performing their official duties when they came under a sudden stone-pelting attack. Family members alleged that certain unruly elements had entered the protest and turned the situation violent.
The families demanded strict legal action against those involved in the violence. At the same time, they emphasized that students with no involvement in the clashes should receive a fair and impartial investigation. They said it was important to distinguish between innocent participants and those responsible for the violence.
They further appealed for stronger measures to ensure the safety of police personnel deployed during public demonstrations and stressed that such incidents should not be repeated in the future.
