New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce, highlighting India's rapid progress across sectors and urging young Indians to contribute to the country's journey towards becoming a developed nation.
During his address, the Prime Minister also launched a sharp political attack on the opposition. He said that whenever India undertakes a major development project, some people immediately begin raising objections. Referring to this attitude, he compared such critics to an 'annoyed uncle' who appears to find fault with every development.
PM Modi said India has increasingly demonstrated its capabilities through major infrastructure projects, technology and emerging industries. He argued that the country's achievements provide a response to those who question India's ability to undertake ambitious projects.
'Annoyed Uncle' Who Objects to Every Development
Taking aim at the opposition, the Prime Minister said some people react negatively whenever the country achieves something significant. He compared their approach to that of an 'annoyed uncle' who seems to have a complaint about everything.
He said India now has the capacity to undertake large and ambitious projects and has demonstrated its capabilities across several sectors.
Referring to examples ranging from the country's tallest statue to the production of small electronic chips, PM Modi said India's achievements show that the country is expanding its capabilities across both large-scale infrastructure and advanced technology.
According to him, these achievements demonstrate that India is increasingly capable of setting ambitious goals and delivering on them.
PM Modi's 'Ideological Naxal' Remark
PM Modi also used the phrase 'ideological Naxal' during his address. Referring to his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, he said he had given what he described as a 'homeopathic pill' on August 15.
Using an analogy with homeopathic treatment, the Prime Minister said that in the initial stage, an illness may appear to worsen before treatment takes effect. He then said that after his reference to 'ideological Naxals' from the Red Fort, several people came forward.
The remark drew an enthusiastic response from young people attending the event.
Focus on India's Technological Capabilities
The Prime Minister also highlighted India's growing capabilities in technology and modern manufacturing. He referred to areas such as semiconductor and chip production as examples of sectors in which India is seeking to expand its capabilities.
PM Modi said Indians are already leading some of the world's major companies. He questioned why Indian professionals can lead global companies but companies created by Indians should not also be capable of becoming global leaders.
He encouraged young people to have confidence in their abilities and make use of the opportunities available in a rapidly changing global economy.
'A Young India That Is Becoming a Global Leader'
The Prime Minister emphasised the potential of India's youth, saying that young Indians possess both knowledge and networks. He encouraged them to use these strengths to build businesses, create jobs and contribute to India's economic development.
He said the country's next phase of growth will depend heavily on young Indians. Rather than viewing themselves only as job seekers, he encouraged them to become entrepreneurs, innovators and creators capable of building globally competitive Indian companies.
According to PM Modi, India's young generation has the ability to compete at the global level, provided it moves forward with confidence and ambition.
Message of Developed India Through the College Logo
PM Modi also referred to the college's logo, noting the presence of a rising sun and a ship moving forward. He said the imagery represents progress, movement and the pursuit of new opportunities.
He connected this symbolism with the broader national goal of building a developed India. According to him, the spirit represented by the logo should also be reflected in the aspirations and actions of the country's young generation.
The Prime Minister said the goal of building a developed India cannot be achieved by the government alone. Citizens, particularly young people, have an important role to play in achieving the objective.
'If the Dream Is Ours, the Resolve Must Also Be Ours'
Concluding his address, PM Modi called upon young Indians to take an active role in building a developed India. He said that if the dream belongs to the nation, the resolve to achieve it must also belong to its people.
He encouraged young people to face challenges without hesitation and continue moving forward even in difficult circumstances.
The central message of his speech was that every step towards a developed India should become part of a larger national effort, with the country's youth playing a leading role in shaping India's future.
