Extensive Security Arrangements for Xi Jinping’s India Visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India has been accompanied by an extensive security operation in New Delhi. Multiple layers of security have been planned around his hotel, travel routes, programme venues and other sensitive locations.
The arrangements include temporary restrictions on airspace, surveillance against drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles, and checks for potential chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
Security agencies have also examined underground infrastructure, including pipeline networks, as part of the wider security assessment.
Xi Arrives With 67-Member Delegation
Xi Jinping arrived in Delhi at around 11:50 am on Saturday. He has been accompanied by a delegation of around 67 people.
The group includes senior political officials, diplomats, security personnel and medical staff. Arrangements were made in advance to meet the requirements of the Chinese delegation during the president’s short visit.
Xi’s stay in India is expected to last around 24 hours. During the visit, he will attend BRICS summit-related sessions and hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Special Equipment Sent From China Ten Days Earlier
China reportedly sent a plane carrying special equipment around ten days before Xi’s arrival.
The consignment included a Hongqi state limousine for the Chinese president, a backup vehicle and communication equipment.
Sending the vehicles and other equipment ahead of the visit allowed the arrangements to be completed before the president’s arrival.
Foreign delegations are permitted to bring certain communication equipment into India, subject to approval from the relevant Indian authorities.
Satellite Communication Equipment Not Permitted
Foreign delegations can bring communication equipment subject to applicable rules and regulatory approvals. However, satellite communication equipment is treated differently under the relevant security and communication protocols.

Special arrangements have been made around the hotel where Xi is staying. A temporary no-fly zone has been planned over the hotel area for a specified period.

Security concerns also include the possible use of drones, banners, loudspeakers or balloons for protests or anti-China activities. Authorities have therefore been asked to take preventive measures against unauthorised aerial objects.
Chemical, Biological and Radiation Checks
The security operation goes beyond conventional anti-terror measures. The hotel and surrounding areas have also undergone checks aimed at identifying potential chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
Special teams and equipment have been deployed as part of the security assessment. Radiation-related and biochemical safety measures have also been incorporated into the overall protection plan.
The objective is to identify possible threats before the president’s arrival and ensure that sensitive areas remain secure throughout his stay.
Underground Pipeline Network Also Examined
Security checks have also extended below ground, including an examination of underground pipeline networks in and around sensitive locations.
Authorities are assessing whether there are any unusual or suspicious elements that could pose a security risk.
In addition, anti-explosive equipment and counter-terror personnel have been deployed at strategic locations.
Bilateral Meeting With PM Modi
Xi Jinping is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit.
The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral and international issues of mutual interest. The meeting is being closely watched in the context of India-China relations.
Xi will also participate in a session of the BRICS summit during his short stay in the country.
State Dinner With PM Modi
Xi is also scheduled to attend a state dinner hosted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The food arrangements for the Chinese president are being handled with additional attention. Chinese officials have reportedly requested that members of Xi’s staff be allowed access to the kitchen so they can taste selected dishes before they are served.
The purpose is to ensure that the food meets the president’s dietary preferences and requirements.
Special Attention to Food Arrangements
Food safety and dietary preferences are also part of the preparations for the visit.
Selected dishes may be tasted in advance by members of the Chinese delegation. The menu is also expected to include vegetarian options.

Xi Jinping’s India visit is expected to last around 24 hours. Security agencies have prepared detailed movement plans to ensure that all scheduled programmes are completed without disruption.
He is scheduled to leave Bharat Mandapam for the airport at around 11 am on Sunday.
Security arrangements will remain tight along his movement routes, with multiple agencies coordinating during his departure from the country.
