As counting of votes continues for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly on May 4, 2026, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, is ahead in 106 constituencies as of 2:45 p.m., according to the Election Commission of India.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance is leading in 62 seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led alliance is ahead in 60 constituencies.
Vijay is currently leading in both Tiruchi East and Perambur constituencies. Meanwhile, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin is trailing in Kolathur, a seat he has held since 2011, behind TVK candidate V.S. Babu.
In confirmed results, DMK candidate Dhravidamani has won the Gudalur seat in the Nilgiris district for a third consecutive term. In Coonoor, DMK’s M. Raju secured victory by 8,099 votes over AIADMK’s A. Ramu. Similarly, A. Sudhakar of the DMK won the Valparai (SC) constituency by a margin of 9,371 votes, defeating TVK’s Dr. A. Sridharan.
In Palayamkottai, DMK candidate M. Abdul Wahab moved into a 4,000-vote lead after the 19th round of counting, following earlier deficits. In Tiruverumbur, DMK minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is trailing by 2,034 votes after 10 rounds, with TVK’s Vijayakumar maintaining the lead.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami continues to hold a comfortable lead in the Edappadi constituency.
The election, held in a single phase on April 23, recorded a voter turnout of 85.1%, with approximately 4.8 crore votes cast. Counting is underway across 62 centres, covering 75,064 polling stations, under tight security deployment of around 1.25 lakh personnel.
