Monfils Celebrates Final French Open with Tennis Tribute

French tennis icon Gaël Monfils received a heartfelt tribute at Roland Garros as he prepared for what is expected to be his final appearance at the French Open. The special exhibition event, titled “Gael & Friends,” brought together some of the biggest names in tennis for an evening filled with celebration, entertainment and emotional moments.

Held on Court Philippe-Chatrier, the event featured stars including Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Former Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, Maria Sakkari and young American talent Iva Jovic also joined the celebrations.

Monfils teamed up with his wife, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, to win the exhibition match in front of an energetic Paris crowd. The evening focused more on fun and memories than competition, with trick shots, laughter and emotional tributes creating a festival atmosphere.

Former Davis Cup teammates Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet also appeared, adding nostalgia to the farewell event.
During an emotional speech, Monfils thanked fans for supporting him throughout his long career. The 39-year-old reflected on his journey, saying that although he never managed to win a Grand Slam title, he was proud of the career he built and the memories he created on court.

Monfils enjoyed a successful career spanning more than two decades, winning 13 ATP titles and reaching the French Open semifinals in 2008. Known for his athleticism, entertaining style and charisma, he became one of the most popular figures in world tennis.

He is set to face fellow French player Hugo Gaston in the first round of the French Open next week, marking his 19th appearance in the tournament’s main draw.
