The political crisis within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) appears to be deepening after reports emerged that 14 party MPs met senior BJP leaders in New Delhi. The development comes at a time when the party is facing internal unrest following its defeat in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
According to reports, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav held discussions with the MPs, while senior BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb were also present during the meeting.
The meeting has sparked fresh speculation about divisions within the TMC and the possibility of further political realignments in the coming days.
The development follows the resignation of former Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray from both Parliament and all party positions. Shortly after his resignation, several TMC MPs met him in Delhi, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the party's future.
In his resignation statement, Ray criticized the party’s performance and claimed that voters had rejected the government over issues such as corruption, governance failures, law and order concerns, unemployment, education, and healthcare.
While no MP has officially announced a switch to another party, the latest developments have intensified political discussions over the future of the TMC and the changing political landscape in West Bengal.
