Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India's free trade agreements (FTAs) with several countries have opened new avenues for economic growth and exports. Speaking at the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, he said these agreements are helping Indian businesses, especially MSMEs, expand their presence in global markets.
According to the Prime Minister, FTAs encourage small and medium enterprises to meet international standards and improve competitiveness, enabling them to benefit from global trade opportunities.
India has signed or advanced trade agreements with countries and regions including the United Kingdom, the European Union, Oman, and New Zealand. Discussions on a trade deal with the United States are also in the final stages.
Modi emphasized that women-led development is a key pillar of the vision for a developed India by 2047. He urged states to prioritize women's education, skill development, safety, and empowerment.
The Prime Minister also highlighted India's demographic dividend, calling it a historic opportunity. He stressed the need for quality education, industry-oriented skills, and employment opportunities to empower young people and drive the country's future growth.
