Authorities at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have implemented major changes to the donation counting process following the revelation of an alleged donation theft case and the ongoing SIT investigation.
A separate control room has now been established to monitor CCTV cameras installed inside the confidential counting chamber located at the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre. Police have also been granted access to the surveillance system.
Under the revised system, all donation boxes and cash counters have been brought under continuous CCTV monitoring. Video recording will be conducted during the removal of donations and their transportation to the counting room.
Security protocols for personnel involved in the counting process have also been strengthened. Staff members will now undergo mandatory and thorough checks while entering and leaving the counting facility.
The process of depositing cash in banks has also been modified. Donations will be cross-verified by three individuals before sealing, with signatures required at every stage. The amount will be matched again upon deposit at the bank.
Sources indicate that the SIT investigation uncovered several shortcomings related to financial transparency and monitoring mechanisms, prompting the implementation of these reforms.
There is also discussion about replacing personnel from the trust, bank and associated agencies involved in the counting process, although no official confirmation has been issued so far. Further decisions are expected after the SIT investigation is completed.
