A high-profile murder case in Pune has revealed a disturbing reality behind what appeared to be a perfect love story on social media. Police have arrested Sia Goyal and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary for the murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agrawal.
Sia and Ketan got engaged in February and were reportedly planning a grand wedding later this year. Their social media profiles featured romantic photographs, dance videos and posts about their future together.
According to investigators, Sia was also involved in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. Police believe she no longer wanted to marry Ketan and viewed him as an obstacle to her relationship with Chetan.
Authorities allege that the two conspired to kill Ketan. On June 18, Ketan was allegedly lured to Lohagad Fort near Pune under the pretext of an outing. Investigators claim that Sia and Chetan pushed him into a gorge, resulting in his death.
The incident was initially treated as an accident. However, police became suspicious during the investigation and uncovered evidence that pointed towards a planned murder.
Investigators said CCTV footage, call records and other digital evidence played a key role in exposing the alleged conspiracy. Police also revealed that Sia and Chetan exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls over the past seven months.
The accused have been arrested on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy. Police custody has been granted as the investigation continues.
