Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral ceremonies of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to diplomatic sources.
The ceremonies are scheduled to take place from July 5 to July 9. However, there has been no official confirmation from New Delhi regarding whether Prime Minister Modi will attend the event.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who served as Iran’s Supreme Leader for nearly three decades, passed away on February 28. He played a central role in shaping Iran’s political, religious and foreign policy direction.
Several religious and state events are planned in Tehran and Qom between July 5 and July 7, while the final tribute ceremony is expected to be held in Mashhad on July 9.
The event is expected to draw leaders and representatives from multiple countries, making it one of the most significant international gatherings following Khamenei’s death.
