A major accident occurred in South Delhi's Mehrauli area on Thursday morning when a large section of a two-storey building collapsed during demolition work.
According to officials, the structure, spread across nearly 300 square yards in Ward No. 3, was being demolished when a portion of it suddenly gave way around 9:30 a.m.
Following the incident, three fire tenders were dispatched to the site, while police teams cordoned off the area and launched rescue and inspection operations.
Authorities are investigating whether any workers or other individuals were inside the building at the time of the collapse. Rescue personnel are carefully examining the debris to rule out the possibility of anyone being trapped underneath.
The contractor associated with the demolition work has been called to the site and is being questioned regarding the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
No injuries or casualties have been officially reported so far. Officials said a clearer picture will emerge once the rescue and inspection operations are completed.
