According to police, the main accused is Mohammad Mobin, a Bihar Police sub-inspector currently posted in Patna. Investigators said Sunil had married Saniya, a woman from his village, around three years ago despite religious differences. The couple had been living in Ahmedabad and had recently returned to their native village.
Police said the accused allegedly called Sunil early Friday morning to meet him near a temple on the pretext of discussing preparations for Muharram. Soon after Sunil arrived, he was allegedly attacked with a sword, resulting in his death at the scene.
Following the incident, the accused officer allegedly shot himself and was admitted to a hospital in critical condition.
Senior police officials visited the crime scene, while a forensic team was deployed to collect evidence. Police said the investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify and arrest any other persons involved.
