US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that President Donald Trump is expected to visit India next year He said preparations for the visit are already underway and that he will travel to India later this year to finalize the arrangements
Rubio said relations between India and the United States are stronger than ever with both countries nearing the completion of a bilateral trade agreement He described India as one of Americas closest partners and said the strong personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump has further strengthened bilateral ties
He also indicated that discussions on the next Quad meeting could take place soon while cooperation in defense technology investment and the Indo Pacific region continues to expand
President Trump last visited India in February 2020 when he attended the Namaste Trump event in Ahmedabad and held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also praised the growing partnership saying India and the United States are natural partners with immense potential for deeper cooperation in trade defense investment and emerging technologies
