Two Accused Injured in Jamui Case, Six Arrested

Police in Bihar's Jamui district have intensified their investigation and search operation following a case involving the alleged harassment, assault and forced stopping of a minor student and a minor girl. During the ongoing police action, information about an encounter between the police team and the accused has emerged.

According to the information available, Nandan Yadav, who has been identified as one of the main accused in the case, sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. Another accused, Hareram Yadav, reportedly suffered a leg injury and his leg was fractured while attempting to flee. Both were taken to Jamui Sadar Hospital under police custody for treatment.

The reported encounter took place near Kunder Barrage. The Special Investigation Team, or SIT, had reportedly received information that Nandan Yadav was hiding in the area. Acting on the information, the police team surrounded the suspected location.

According to the preliminary information, the accused allegedly attempted to escape after finding themselves surrounded by the police. A confrontation reportedly followed, during which Nandan Yadav sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. Hareram Yadav was also injured during the incident.

However, a detailed official confirmation regarding all aspects of the encounter from senior police officials is still awaited. Therefore, the claims surrounding the incident should be treated as preliminary until the police provide a complete official account.

Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav are reportedly adults and residents of Pratappur village. Both are said to work as tractor drivers. After the incident, they were taken to Jamui Sadar Hospital for medical treatment. Police personnel have also been deployed around the hospital as a security measure.

The case relates to an incident reported on the evening of September 19 at around 7 pm near Marwa Pahar. According to the allegations, a group of youths stopped a minor boy and a minor girl who were travelling on a scooter. The two were allegedly subjected to inappropriate behaviour and assault.

The accused allegedly recorded the incident and circulated the video on social media. After the video surfaced, the incident triggered anger among local residents and prompted the police administration to launch a wider search operation against those allegedly involved.

The viral footage reportedly showed Nandan Yadav allegedly attempting to forcibly lift and take away the girl. Following the emergence of the video, police began conducting raids at several suspected locations to trace the accused.

Three accused were reportedly arrested on Monday. Another accused, identified as Ramashish Mandal, was reportedly arrested on Tuesday morning. The subsequent police action against Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav brought the reported number of arrests in the case to six.

The police operation near Kunder Barrage was carried out after the SIT received information regarding the suspected presence of Nandan Yadav. During the operation, the accused allegedly tried to escape. The police have stated that Nandan sustained a gunshot injury to his leg during the action, while Hareram suffered a fractured leg.

Following the incident, District Magistrate Naveen and Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Dayal visited Jamui Sadar Hospital along with other administrative officials. They met medical personnel and sought information about the condition of the injured accused. Security arrangements at the hospital were also strengthened.

The district administration has appealed to the public not to circulate the video related to the incident. Officials have stressed the importance of protecting the privacy, dignity and well-being of the minor girl and her family in such a sensitive matter.

The administration has also urged people not to circulate unverified information or rumours on social media. Officials have said that detailed information regarding the police action, arrests and the reported encounter will be shared through the appropriate official channels.

The investigation into the case remains underway. Police are examining the role of the accused and looking for the remaining person allegedly involved in the incident. Investigators are also examining available video footage and other evidence as part of the probe.

Authorities have appealed to the public to maintain restraint and avoid sharing unverified claims about the case.

The administration has also reiterated that any information concerning the sensitive case should be relied upon only after official confirmation.
