A suspected hit-and-run incident involving a woman biker has come to light on Golf Course Road in Gurugram. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday when a car allegedly hit a woman riding a sports motorcycle. The impact caused her to fall onto the road, while the motorcycle continued to slide for several metres.
The car reportedly left the spot after the collision. The woman biker has been identified as Siya. She later shared details of the incident on her social media account and also posted footage recorded by a camera mounted on her motorcycle.
According to Siya, she was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike along with her biking group on Golf Course Road on Sunday. She alleged that a car had been following her since the beginning of the ride.
Allegation of Following and Misbehaviour
Siya alleged that the people inside the car repeatedly tried to come close to her motorcycle. She said that she asked them to maintain distance. However, according to her account, the occupants of the car allegedly continued their behaviour and asked her to stop the motorcycle.
She further alleged that the people inside the car appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The allegations are part of the account shared by the biker and are being examined as part of the police investigation.
Motorcycle Hit While Being Overtaken
According to Siya, after the incident continued for some time, the car overtook her motorcycle and allegedly hit it from the side. The impact caused her to lose control and fall onto the road.
The motorcycle-mounted camera reportedly captured the incident. The footage shows the car coming close to the motorcycle, followed by the collision and the bike sliding along the road.
After the collision, the car reportedly left the area instead of stopping at the spot. Siya also shared details of the vehicle on social media. According to the information shared by her, the registration number of the car is HR30Y4949 and the registered owner has been identified as Manish.
However, the identity of the person driving the vehicle at the time of the incident and the exact circumstances leading to the collision will have to be established through the police investigation.
Police Take Cognisance of Video
Gurugram Police has taken cognisance of the video that surfaced on social media and said that the matter is being investigated. Police are examining the video footage and other available information to identify the vehicle and establish what happened before and after the collision.
The investigation will also determine whether the car was actually following the woman biker before the collision and what led to the alleged side impact.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of bikers on busy roads. Footage from motorcycle-mounted cameras can play an important role in establishing the sequence of events in such cases.
At present, the matter remains under investigation. Further action will depend on the evidence collected by the police and the findings of the investigation.
