New Delhi: Security agencies in the national capital were placed on high alert after several important locations in Delhi reportedly received bomb threats just ahead of Independence Day.
The information triggered an immediate security response, with police, fire services, bomb disposal teams and dog squads deployed to the affected locations. Detailed security and anti-sabotage checks were also initiated.
The locations mentioned in connection with the threats include the *Delhi High Court, Jamnagar House, Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex, MB Saket Office/DM Office, Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport and the SDM Office in Delhi Cantonment*.
Initial searches have not confirmed the presence of any suspicious object. However, security agencies are continuing their checks under established protocols.
Threatening email received by Delhi High Court
According to the information available, a threatening email was received at the official email address of the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court.
The email reportedly claimed that bombs had been placed inside the court complex and judges' chambers and warned of a possible blast after the premises were not vacated.
The information was immediately passed on to security agencies. Police, bomb disposal teams, dog squads and fire service personnel subsequently reached the court complex.
Detailed checks inside the court complex
Security teams examined different sections of the High Court premises, including courtrooms and sensitive areas.
Anti-sabotage checks were carried out and trained dog squads were also used during the search operation.
Officials have said that no suspicious object has been confirmed during the initial checks. Security teams, however, are continuing the verification process as a precaution.
Investigation into the threat email
Investigators are now trying to determine who sent the email and what the purpose behind the threat was.
The possibility of a hoax or an attempt to create panic is also being examined. However, authorities are treating the matter seriously and are following the required security procedures.
Cyber investigation underway
Cyber investigators and the Special Cell are examining the technical details associated with the email.
The investigation is focused on identifying the source of the message and tracing the person or group responsible for sending it.
Security tightened around the High Court
Security arrangements around the High Court have been strengthened following the threat.
Monitoring and checking have been increased around sensitive locations, while security personnel have been instructed to remain particularly vigilant.
Delhi already under heightened security
Delhi was already operating under heightened security because of the Independence Day celebrations.
DCP North Raja Banthia said that a detailed security plan had been prepared for August 15. The plan includes anti-terror checks, emergency response preparations, crowd management and VIP security.
Thousands of personnel to be deployed
According to the security plan, approximately *15,000 to 20,000 personnel from different agencies* are expected to be deployed for Independence Day-related security arrangements.
Authorities are also using CCTV cameras, video analysis and digital monitoring systems to strengthen surveillance.
Special surveillance around key areas
Security monitoring is being carried out across an area of approximately three kilometres around the key event zone.
Parking passes have been issued and route advisories have also been prepared to manage public movement and traffic.
No suspicious object confirmed so far
Despite the seriousness of the threats, initial searches have not confirmed the presence of any suspicious object.
Security agencies remain on alert because the threats were reported immediately before Independence Day, when security arrangements in the capital are already at their highest level.
The investigation is currently focused on verifying the threat, tracing the source of the email and ensuring that there is no actual security risk.
