Flydubai Flight Was Not Hijacked, Emergency Signals Trigger Security Aler

A Flydubai passenger aircraft travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv triggered a security alert on Wednesday after transmitting emergency signals during its journey. Initial reports raised concerns that the aircraft could have been hijacked, prompting Israeli security authorities to closely monitor the situation. However, officials later clarified that there was no confirmed hijacking.

The aircraft had departed from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates at around 7:05 am and was scheduled to arrive at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel at approximately 9:30 am. During the flight, however, the aircraft changed its route and was diverted towards Saudi Arabia.

The situation became more serious after the aircraft transmitted the emergency code *7700, followed by **7500*. In aviation, 7700 is used to indicate a general emergency, while 7500 is associated with a suspected hijacking or unlawful interference with an aircraft.

The transmission of the 7500 code immediately raised concerns among security agencies. Israeli authorities began monitoring the aircraft and assessing whether there was a potential security threat onboard. Aircraft Diverted to Saudi Arabia

Following the emergency signals, the aircraft was diverted towards Saudi Arabia. Its altitude was also reduced as authorities worked to ensure that the aircraft could land safely at an appropriate airport.

At one stage, the aircraft reportedly disappeared from publicly available flight-tracking systems. This added to concerns surrounding the incident and prompted further monitoring by security officials.

Authorities later indicated that the aircraft was heading towards Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Tabuk Airport and later became visible again on public flight-tracking systems.

The safe landing provided relief after the initial uncertainty surrounding the aircraft's status.

Dispute Between Pilots Reported

Information released later indicated that the emergency signal was linked to a dispute between the pilots onboard the aircraft. This development provided a possible explanation for the emergency transmission and the subsequent diversion.

The initial concern about a hijacking was largely driven by the transmission of the 7500 code, which is internationally associated with a suspected hijacking situation. As a result, Israeli authorities treated the situation seriously until more information became available.

Officials later clarified that there was no confirmed evidence that the aircraft had been hijacked.Emergency Security Meeting Held

Following the emergency transmission, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz convened an emergency security consultation. Officials reviewed the aircraft's movements and assessed the potential security implications.

Security sources later clarified that there was no confirmed information indicating that the aircraft had been hijacked. Authorities said the pilot had transmitted a distress signal, prompting the security response.

Once it became clear that the aircraft was heading towards Saudi Arabia and could land safely, the immediate concern began to ease. Security agencies continued monitoring the flight until its safe landing.

What Do Codes 7500 and 7700 Mean?

Aircraft transponders can transmit specific codes to alert air traffic controllers to emergency situations. *Code 7700* indicates a general emergency and tells air traffic control that the aircraft requires attention.

Code 7500, meanwhile, is internationally associated with a suspected hijacking or unlawful interference. Because the aircraft transmitted both codes during the flight, authorities had reason to activate security procedures and closely monitor the situation.

However, the later clarification from Israeli officials indicated that the aircraft had not been hijacked.

 Passengers Safe After Landing

More than 150 passengers were reportedly onboard the aircraft. After the plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia, concerns about the immediate safety of the passengers were reduced.

The incident nevertheless triggered a significant security response because the aircraft was travelling towards Israel before suddenly changing its route and transmitting emergency signals.

The aircraft's diversion and subsequent safe landing brought the immediate situation under control. Based on the information available after the incident, the flight was not hijacked. The emergency transmission was linked to the situation involving the pilots, while the security agencies continued to monitor the aircraft until it landed safely.
