IND vs SL 2nd Test: Sonal Dinusha Hits Fifty, Sri Lanka Take Lead

India and Sri Lanka are facing each other in the second Test of the two-match series at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. India dominated the early stages of the match after declaring their first innings at 503/9. Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 290, giving India a first-innings lead of 213 runs. India decided to enforce the follow-on.

Sri Lanka, however, showed strong resistance in their second innings. After losing early wickets, the hosts recovered through important contributions from their middle and lower order. Rain interrupted play on the fourth day, with Sri Lanka ending the day at 229/6 and holding a 16-run lead over India.

On the fifth day, Sonal Dinusha continued his impressive form and completed another half-century. The latest score shows Sri Lanka at 316/6 after 96.5 overs, with Dinusha unbeaten on 50 and Keshara Nuwantha on 39. Their partnership has pushed Sri Lanka's lead to 103 runs

Dinusha has been one of Sri Lanka's most reliable performers in this Test series. He scored a century in the first innings of this match, making 103 runs before being dismissed. Despite his effort, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 290 and could not avoid the follow-on.

India's bowling attack was led by Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar, who took three wickets each in Sri Lanka's first innings. Saransh Jain claimed two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja took one each.

Sri Lanka's Fightback

Sri Lanka's second innings gained momentum through Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Kamindu Mendis. Sooriyabandara scored 92, missing out on a century by just eight runs, while Mendis contributed 55. Their efforts helped Sri Lanka recover from a difficult position after the follow-on. Sport

The lower-order resistance has now created an unexpected challenge for India. With Dinusha and Nuwantha at the crease, Sri Lanka have moved beyond India's first-innings total and currently lead by 103 runs.

India's immediate target will be to take the remaining wickets quickly and prevent Sri Lanka from setting a difficult fourth-innings target. Rain remains another important factor after disrupting play on the fourth day.

India currently lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Galle by 165 runs. A victory in Colombo would give India a 2-0 series sweep.
