India has taken a firm diplomatic step following recent attacks on commercial vessels carrying Indian crew members.
The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk and conveyed its serious concern over the incident, emphasizing the safety of Indian nationals.
The move comes after a commercial ship, *MV AGN Ragnar*, was reportedly attacked near Ukraine's Odesa port on Saturday.
The vessel had four Indian crew members on board.
Indian authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain in touch with all concerned agencies regarding the welfare and safety of the crew.
Odesa, one of Ukraine's most important Black Sea ports, has remained a frequent target since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022.
The continued attacks in the region have raised concerns over the safety of commercial shipping and international maritime operations.
India reiterated that the security of its citizens and Indian crew members serving on international merchant vessels remains a top priority. The government also expressed hope that necessary measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
