A series of major policy and price changes have come into effect across India from July 1, impacting consumers, travellers, vehicle owners and businesses.
Oil marketing companies have reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by around ₹180. In Delhi, the revised price now stands at ₹2,930 per cylinder, while domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.
Private fuel retailer Nayara Energy has reduced petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel by ₹3 per litre. Meanwhile, the government has withdrawn the daily 200-litre diesel purchase limit at fuel stations, allowing consumers and commercial users to buy fuel without restrictions.
Passport services have become more expensive after the first fee revision in 14 years. The fee for a standard 36-page passport has increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,500, while charges for Tatkal and 60-page passports have also been raised.
The Ministry of Railways has doubled the minimum penalty for travelling without a ticket from ₹250 to ₹500. Offenders will now have to pay the actual fare along with the revised penalty.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made email address updates in Aadhaar free until December 31, 2026. Earlier, the service cost ₹75.
The government has also reduced Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices by ₹5 per litre, a move that could help airlines lower operating costs.
In addition, several automobile manufacturers have increased vehicle prices by up to 2 percent from July 1, making new car purchases more expensive.
