Labourer Dies After Scorpio Hit-and-Run, Highway Blocked in Samastipur

Samastipur: A tragic road accident occurred late Friday night in Bihar's Samastipur district when a speeding Scorpio SUV hit a labourer near Barauna village under Vidyapatinagar police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Tuntun Sada (42). According to family members, he was walking along NH-122B after dinner around 11:30 pm when the vehicle struck him. He died on the spot, while the driver fled with the vehicle.

On Saturday morning, angry villagers placed the body on the highway and blocked NH-122B. They demanded compensation for the bereaved family, installation of barricades, proper street lighting, and warning signboards.

The blockade disrupted traffic and led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.

Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Station House Officer Suraj Kumar said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the accident.
