Mumbai: Romantic comedy film 'Cocktail 2', starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, has made a solid start at the box office.

According to trade estimates, the film collected around ₹13.50 crore net in India on its opening day, while its domestic gross earnings crossed ₹16 crore. Overseas markets contributed approximately ₹4 crore more.

With combined domestic and international earnings, the film's worldwide gross collection surpassed ₹20 crore on its first day in theatres.

The movie is being viewed as a spiritual successor to the 2012 hit 'Cocktail'. While it has managed to outperform the original film's opening-day numbers, industry analysts believe its long-term success will depend heavily on audience reception and word of mouth.

Trade experts expect collections to grow further over the weekend as occupancy levels improve across major urban centres.

The opening has also become one of Shahid Kapoor's strongest post-pandemic starts and among Kriti Sanon's biggest opening-day performers.
