Gorakhpur: A shocking incident has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, where a nine-month-old baby girl who disappeared from her home during the night was found injured in a nearby field the following morning.
According to police, the child was sleeping beside her mother on Friday night when she went missing. Family members discovered her absence around 2 a.m. and spent the entire night searching for her in the surrounding area.
The next morning, villagers spotted the infant lying in a field about 500 metres from her home. She was reportedly found in a distressed condition with visible injuries, prompting immediate concern among residents.
The child was first taken to a local health centre and later referred to the BRD Medical College's Nehru Hospital due to the seriousness of her condition. She is currently undergoing treatment.
Given the circumstances in which the infant was found, police have launched an investigation into all possible angles, including suspected sexual assault. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined as part of the probe.
Officials said a detailed investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify those responsible for the incident.
