Heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc across Himachal Pradesh, where floods and landslides have severely disrupted daily life. At least 15 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across the state.
In Kinnaur district, flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall submerged a nearly 100-foot Bailey bridge connecting Lippa village after debris blocked the Pager stream. In Kullu's Gadsa Valley, a cloudburst caused severe flooding that washed away 10 small bridges and forced residents to move to safer locations.
Shimla and several other districts witnessed landslides, falling rocks and road blockages following continuous rainfall. In Vikasnagar, two vehicles were damaged after rocks fell from a hillside, while fallen trees disrupted traffic in the Tutu area. Schools remained closed in several districts as a precaution.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, 75 roads remain blocked, 29 power transformers have been affected and five drinking water supply schemes have been disrupted. The India Meteorological Department has warned of continued heavy rainfall and advised residents to stay away from landslide-prone areas.
