A major accident occurred at a stone quarry in Madapattana, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, on Thursday morning when a massive rock collapsed during excavation work. Seven migrant workers from Bihar were killed on the spot, while several others sustained injuries.
According to police, around 18 workers were engaged in quarrying operations when a huge rock, estimated to have fallen from a height of nearly 40 feet, suddenly crashed onto them.
Emergency response teams, police and rescue personnel rushed to the site and launched an extensive operation to remove debris and search for any workers who may still be trapped. The injured were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that all seven deceased workers were residents of Bihar and were employed as daily wage labourers at the quarry site.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse. Officials are examining whether safety violations or negligence at the quarry contributed to the deadly incident.
