Former BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has launched a fresh political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after resigning from the BJP. Poonawalla claimed that Rahul Gandhi would never become the Prime Minister of India as long as he remained alive.
Poonawalla made the remarks in a social media post following his resignation. He wrote that the method may have changed, but the objective had not. He then made a direct statement about Rahul Gandhi's political future, saying that Rahul Gandhi would never become Prime Minister during his lifetime.
The statement has attracted attention because of Poonawalla's political background. He began his political journey with the Congress and reportedly entered politics around 2008 as a Congress volunteer while he was still a student. He later became increasingly critical of the Congress leadership and eventually joined the BJP.
In his latest remarks, Poonawalla targeted not only Rahul Gandhi but also his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He used Rajiv Gandhi's political legacy to make a broader argument about the rise of Narendra Modi in Indian politics.
Poonawalla claimed that Rajiv Gandhi's political legacy ultimately contributed to Rahul Gandhi's rise and, according to his interpretation, Rahul Gandhi's politics helped Narendra Modi secure electoral victories.
He referred to the 2014, 2019 and 2024 elections and said Narendra Modi became Prime Minister after each of those elections. Poonawalla also predicted that Modi would become Prime Minister again in 2029.
These comments, however, represent Poonawalla's political opinion and prediction. The outcome of future elections and the question of who becomes Prime Minister are ultimately determined by the electoral mandate and the constitutional process.
In another post, Poonawalla issued a sharp message to Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that he should be prepared because he would now speak without any filter. The remarks indicate that despite leaving the BJP, Poonawalla intends to continue taking a critical position against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership.
Why Did Poonawalla Resign From BJP?
Poonawalla submitted his resignation to BJP national president Nitin Nabin. In his resignation, he cited personal and financial circumstances as important reasons behind his decision.
He indicated that he needed to explore new opportunities because his existing role was not providing him with income. His decision therefore appears to have been influenced by both personal circumstances and financial considerations.
Poonawalla's resignation has attracted attention because of his long political association with both the Congress and the BJP. He began his political journey with the Congress before becoming one of the BJP's prominent voices against the Congress leadership.
His resignation now marks a new phase in his political career. While he has stepped away from the BJP, his latest statements show that his political criticism of Rahul Gandhi remains strong.
The next phase of Poonawalla's political journey will be closely watched, particularly regarding whether he joins another political platform or chooses to remain politically active outside a formal party position.
