Trump Wanted to Call PM Modi at 6 AM US Envoy Shares Story Behind Their Close Friendship

As India and the United States move closer to finalising a major trade agreement US Ambassador Sergio Gor has shared an interesting story about the friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.

Speaking at the US India Strategic Partnership Forum Gor recalled that during a UFC event in Miami Trump suddenly suggested calling Prime Minister Modi.

The ambassador reminded Trump that it was around 6 AM in India. Trump replied with a smile saying Modi would already be awake because he wakes up early just like him.

Although the call was eventually made the following day Gor said the incident reflected the strong personal rapport between the two leaders.

He added that Trump still fondly remembers his visits to India including the Howdy Modi and Namaste Trump events and remains committed to strengthening cooperation with India in trade investment defence and technology.
