Despite the ceasefire agreement, tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate. The US launched large-scale airstrikes for the sixth consecutive night, targeting multiple Iranian military installations.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), fighter jets, drones, and naval assets were used to strike air defense systems, coastal surveillance centers, logistics facilities, and other military infrastructure.
During the operation, a missile strike also reportedly hit Iran's Chabahar Port, damaging the maritime control tower. Reports indicate this was the third attack on the facility within a week. The tower is used to monitor commercial shipping operations.
Iran warned that any future US ground operation would face a strong response. Concerns have also increased over maritime security in the Bab al-Mandeb and Strait of Hormuz regions.
India has reportedly instructed that no new Indian sailors be deployed on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz until further notice.
The conflict has also affected global energy markets. Brent crude climbed above $85 per barrel, while WTI crude approached $80 per barrel. Asian stock markets also declined amid fears of supply disruptions.
Former US President Donald Trump said the United States is making significant progress in its military campaign against Iran and claimed the results would soon become visible.
