VB G RAM G to Replace MGNREGA From July 1 Rural Workers to Get 125 Days Employment

The Government of India will implement the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin VB G RAM G Act from July 1 2026 replacing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MGNREGA. Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said all preparations have been completed by both the Centre and the states.

Under the new law eligible rural households will receive a guarantee of 125 days of employment every year instead of the previous 100 days. Training has already been provided to village level officials and most states have completed the notification process.

The central government has allocated more than Rs 95692 crore for the scheme in the 2026 27 financial year while the total expenditure including state contributions is expected to exceed Rs 151 lakh crore.

The minister said the programme will give priority to water conservation rainwater harvesting and rural infrastructure projects to strengthen climate resilience and improve livelihoods.

He also said that 111 districts have been identified as highly vulnerable to El Nino conditions while more than 300 districts remain under close monitoring. Additional employment opportunities will be created wherever needed to ensure that no rural worker is left without work during the transition.
