A surprise inspection was conducted on July 7 by Deputy Collector Neha Gangare and CMHO Dr. Kamla Arya at Shajapur District Hospital. Several doctors were absent even after 10:00 AM, despite OPD timings being scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Action Against Doctors
The Health Department issued show-cause notices to nine doctors, including Dr. N.C. Jhala, Dr. B.S. Maina, Dr. Manoj Pancholi, Dr. Alok Saxena, Dr. Tejpal Singh Jadon, Dr. Shubham Gupta, Dr. Govind Patidar, Dr. Kshitij K. Murari and Dr. Ajay Shivhare. They have been asked to submit their explanations within the prescribed time.
Coordinator Also Penalized
District Ayushman Coordinator Shamsad Mansoori was also served a notice for remaining absent during office hours and showing poor progress in implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Weekly progress reports have also been made mandatory.
One-Day Salary Cut
CMHO Dr. Kamla Arya ordered the deduction of one day's salary for all the concerned officials. The department said negligence during duty hours would not be tolerated.
Legal Option Under Consideration
Some doctors have reportedly considered approaching the High Court against the notices. However, Civil Surgeon Dr. B.S. Maina stated that no official decision has been taken and all concerned officers are currently preparing their replies.
More Irregularities Found
Apart from staff absenteeism, officials also found deficiencies in cleanliness, duty rosters, the Ayushman help desk and other hospital arrangements. The department has directed immediate improvements and warned of strict monitoring in the future.
