UP launches campaign to boost farm exports

The Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Foreign Trade has launched a statewide awareness campaign to increase farmers' income and promote agricultural exports. Officials said the initiative aims to educate farmers about export-related government schemes and encourage them to take advantage of financial assistance available for agricultural exports. Under the scheme, exporters of agricultural products will receive a subsidy of 5 percent on transportation costs, up to a maximum of ₹20 lakh in a financial year. Financial incentives will also be provided for establishing pack houses and exporting packaged food products. The department has also encouraged entrepreneurs and farmers dealing in products such as ground spices, honey, flour, edible oil, gram flour and butter to obtain AGMARK certification for quality packaging and export purposes. According to officials, the campaign is designed to make farmers more self-reliant, improve their earnings and encourage young people to participate in agriculture and agri-export businesses. Farmers have been advised to contact the Senior Agricultural Marketing Inspector's office at Auraiya Mandi for detailed information about the scheme.
