Social reformer and engineer Sonam Wangchuk has continued his indefinite hunger strike for the 17th day at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. According to the latest health bulletin, he has lost around 8.5 kg, and doctors have warned that his health is deteriorating.
The protest is linked to demands for accountability in the NEET paper leak case and calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
. Wangchuk joined the protest on June 29.
Known for his Ice Stupa innovation that helps farmers in Ladakh, Wangchuk received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2018 and is widely regarded as the inspiration behind the lead character in 3 Idiots.
Protesters have announced a Parliament March on July 20 and say the movement will continue until accountability is ensured.
