Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha has publicly extended her support to education activist Sonam Wangchuk by sharing a video message on social media. In her statement, she said she could no longer stay silent on the issue and called for greater attention to the concerns being raised by young people.
Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike since June 28. He and the Cockroach Janata Party are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
In her video, Sonakshi said that although she may not usually make such public statements, she felt compelled to speak out. She praised Wangchuk for his contributions to the country and highlighted his achievements and recognition over the years.
She said Wangchuk has been fasting for several days not for himself, but for the future of children and students. According to her, he is fighting against a system that, in his view, is failing to function properly.
Sonakshi also questioned why so many people have remained silent despite Wangchuk’s prolonged protest. She praised the country's youth for raising their voices for what they believe is a meaningful cause and said their concerns deserve to be heard.
The actor shared her 2-minute and 41-second video on Facebook. Meanwhile, Wangchuk has also appealed to people to join the proposed Parliament march scheduled for July 20 while updating supporters about his health condition.
