Tension unfolded at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi as members and supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) attempted to march toward Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session.

Delhi Police blocked the procession with multiple layers of barricades after protesters attempted to move toward Parliament without official permission. Minor clashes were reported between demonstrators and security personnel as authorities worked to control the crowd.

Thousands of police personnel and paramilitary forces were deployed around Jantar Mantar and central Delhi. Security arrangements included baggage screening, multiple frisking checkpoints, riot-control vehicles, ambulances, and senior officers monitoring the situation throughout the day.

According to police officials, no official permission had been granted for the Parliament March. Restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita were already in force in the New Delhi district, prohibiting large gatherings and public processions.

The protest gained momentum after activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to hospital following concerns over his deteriorating health during his hunger strike. Large numbers of students, youth, and supporters from different states gathered at Jantar Mantar in support of the movement.

CJP stated that it remains willing to hold talks with the government regarding its demands for education reforms but alleged that authorities have not provided any clear response so far.
