New Delhi: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk continued his indefinite hunger strike for the 26th consecutive day and once again appealed to supporters to maintain peace during the ongoing protest. He emphasized that the strength of any democratic movement lies in discipline, patience, and non-violence.

According to Wangchuk, certain anti-social elements are attempting to take advantage of the protest by creating tension and provoking violence. He urged protesters not to react emotionally to such attempts and instead respond with restraint and dignity.

Referring to the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Wangchuk said peaceful resistance remains the most powerful tool for social change. He stated that the objective of the movement is to seek justice, protect students' interests, and demand meaningful reforms, not to create unrest.

He requested participants to cooperate with law enforcement authorities, avoid spreading rumours, and ensure that the protest remains within constitutional and democratic limits. Wangchuk stressed that violence would only weaken the credibility of the movement and divert attention from its core demands.

The activist reaffirmed that his hunger strike would continue until meaningful steps are taken regarding education-related concerns. He expressed confidence that peaceful public participation would ultimately strengthen the movement and encourage constructive dialogue.
