New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has once again criticized the Central Government over its handling of the recent student movement, alleging that the country's system has become increasingly hostile toward young people. He said the treatment of students during the protests raises serious concerns about democratic values and the government's approach toward public dissent.

His remarks came shortly after a student movement that lasted for more than a month concluded following developments related to the protesters' key demands. Throughout the agitation, students raised concerns over examination transparency, accountability, and reforms in the education system. Demonstrations were held in several states, with reports of confrontations between protesters and security personnel in multiple locations.

Referring to reports regarding police action in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi claimed that serious allegations had emerged about the use of force against protesting students. He also alleged that hundreds of students were detained and cases were registered against them. Calling the reports deeply disturbing, he demanded an impartial investigation into the incidents.

Rahul Gandhi also referred to the situation in Delhi, alleging that excessive force was used against students participating in demonstrations. He argued that students protesting over issues affecting their education and future should not be treated like criminals and that peaceful dissent is an essential part of a democratic society.

The Congress leader urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize for the alleged action against students and called for dialogue instead of confrontation. According to him, the concerns of young people should be addressed through discussion and policy measures rather than police intervention.

He further said that India's youth are already facing challenges related to education, examinations, and employment, and suppressing their voices could weaken public confidence in democratic institutions.

The government may present its own position regarding these allegations. Authorities have consistently maintained that maintaining law and order remains their responsibility and that any security measures are taken to ensure public safety. The issue is expected to remain part of the political debate in the coming days.
