The bodies of Aban Ahmed, son of gangster Atiq Ahmed, and his companion Sonu, who lost their lives in a road accident, were brought to Hatwa village in Prayagraj on Friday morning.
Their arrival plunged the village into mourning as family members and locals gathered to pay their respects.
As a precaution, heavy police deployment has been made in the village.
Authorities are also maintaining strict surveillance due to the possibility of the presence of Aban's mother, Shaista Parveen, who remains absconding in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.
According to officials, Aban will be laid to rest after Friday prayers at Kasari Masari cemetery beside the graves of his father Atiq Ahmed and uncle Ashraf. His companion Sonu will be buried in Hatwa village.
Police said Aban was travelling to Jhansi to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmed, who is lodged in jail, when the speeding car lost control and crashed into a divider on the Kanpur-Jhansi highway. Aban and Sonu died in the accident, while three others sustained injuries. Security arrangements have been strengthened from Hatwa village to the cemetery.
