The student movement in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in competitive and recruitment examinations continues to intensify. Students protesting issues related to examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) have announced a march toward the Assembly.

A large number of students gathered at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi before beginning preparations for the Assembly march. The protesters are demanding concrete action from the government over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.

The students are mainly insisting on two demands: cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.

 Third Round of Talks Fails

The protest continued after the third round of discussions between representatives of the state government and the protesting students on Sunday failed to reach a conclusion.

The two sides were unable to reach an agreement on the students’ major demands. Following the unsuccessful talks, the protesters decided to continue with their planned Assembly march.

The students have maintained that their demands concern transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. They want the government to take action on the allegations surrounding recruitment examinations and ensure that the examination system remains credible.

Security Tightened in Ranchi

The administration has made extensive security arrangements in Ranchi in view of the planned Assembly demonstration.

The main road leading toward the Assembly has been sealed by the administration. Barricades have been placed at key points, while vehicles have also been used to block access to the route.

Restrictions have been imposed within a 750-metre radius of the newly constructed Assembly premises under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The measure has been taken to regulate the movement of crowds and prevent any untoward incident around the Assembly complex.

The security arrangements are expected to affect movement on some roads around the Assembly area. Police and administrative authorities have been deployed to manage the situation and regulate the movement of protesters.

Protest Enters 17th Day

The student agitation over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations has now entered its 17th day. Despite several rounds of discussions, no final agreement has been reached on the demands that the students consider central to their movement.

The protesters argue that their campaign is not limited to a single examination. According to them, the larger issue is the need for transparency, accountability and fairness in the recruitment process.

The students have continued their protest despite the government’s attempts at dialogue. The failure of the latest round of talks has further strengthened their decision to proceed with the Assembly march.

Students on Hunger Strike

Some protesters have also been observing a hunger strike as part of the ongoing movement.

Protesting student leader Devendranath Mahto described the day as a decisive moment in their struggle. He said that students who have been on hunger strike for several days are looking at the Assembly march as an important stage in their campaign.

According to Mahto, the protesters are seeking change in the recruitment examination system and want their concerns to be addressed through concrete action.

Two Major Demands

The protesters have primarily raised two demands. The first is the cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination. The second is a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in the state.

So far, the government and student representatives have not reached an agreement on these demands. As a result, the agitation has continued and the students have moved ahead with their plan to march toward the Assembly.

The situation in Ranchi remains closely watched as thousands of students participate in the protest. With restrictions and security arrangements in place around the Assembly premises, the administration is closely monitoring the movement while protesters continue to press for action on their demands.
