PDA Now Means Women, Says Dimple Yadav; SP Promises ₹40,000 Annual Aid

Lucknow: Political preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections have started gaining momentum. The Samajwadi Party has now placed women and girl students at the centre of several of its proposed initiatives.

At a programme organised at the party’s state headquarters, MP Dimple Yadav spoke about the role of women and outlined the party’s focus on the “half of the population”.

Dimple Yadav said that the party was giving a new interpretation to the ‘A’ in PDA by linking it with “Aadhi Abadi”, or women representing half of the population. She said women would be given greater respect and economic support if the party returns to power in Uttar Pradesh.

Promise of ₹40,000 Annual Financial Assistance

One of the major announcements concerns the proposed *‘Stree Samman Samriddhi Yojana’*.

According to the party’s announcement, women would initially receive *₹40,000 per year* as financial assistance if the Samajwadi Party forms the government in Uttar Pradesh.

The party has also indicated that the assistance could be increased in the future. However, details regarding eligibility criteria, the payment mechanism, the number of beneficiaries and the final structure of the scheme have not yet been provided.

The party has presented the proposal as an initiative aimed at improving the economic position and social dignity of women.

 New Interpretation of PDA

The Samajwadi Party has frequently used the term PDA in its political messaging. During the programme, Dimple Yadav connected the letter ‘A’ with *“Aadhi Abadi”*, highlighting women as an important focus of the party’s political strategy.

She said women should have a stronger role in social, economic and political decision-making and that their financial empowerment would be given importance.

Laptops for Class 12 Pass Girls

The party has also announced a proposal for girl students.

According to party president Akhilesh Yadav, if the Samajwadi Party forms the government in Uttar Pradesh, *girls who pass Class 12 will be provided laptops*.

The party has linked the proposal to the growing importance of digital education. Access to laptops, according to the party, could help students with online education, digital learning resources and academic work.

The eligibility conditions and distribution timeline for the proposed laptop scheme have not yet been detailed.

Public Holiday on Rani Avantibai Lodhi’s Birth Anniversary

The Samajwadi Party has also made an announcement concerning freedom fighter and historical figure *Rani Avantibai Lodhi*.

The party has said that if it forms the government, *August 16 will be declared a government public holiday* in Uttar Pradesh to mark her birth anniversary.

It has also proposed installing a statue of Rani Avantibai Lodhi at the Gomti Riverfront.

 SP’s Strategy for 2027 Elections

Although the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is still some time away, political parties have started presenting their priorities and possible election promises.

The Samajwadi Party is placing emphasis on women, girl students, financial assistance, education and social recognition.

The proposed annual financial assistance could become an important part of the party’s campaign if it is formally included in its election agenda.

What Happens if the Scheme Is Implemented?

If the Samajwadi Party forms the government in 2027 and implements the proposed scheme, women could receive annual financial assistance. However, the government would need to formally establish the eligibility rules, budget allocation and implementation mechanism.

At present, these announcements are political commitments made ahead of the election. Their actual implementation would depend on the party forming the government and subsequently approving the required policies.

Women Becoming a Major Political Focus

Women voters are an important part of Uttar Pradesh’s electoral landscape. The Samajwadi Party’s focus on direct financial assistance, laptops for girl students and initiatives related to women’s dignity indicates an effort to make women a major part of its 2027 political strategy.

Other political parties are also expected to announce schemes and proposals aimed at women, youth and students as the election approaches.
