A serious case involving a 16-year-old minor girl has been reported in New Delhi. According to police, the girl had become lost while travelling towards the Delhi-NCR region and approached a sleeper bus to ask for directions.

The police investigation alleges that the driver and conductor offered to take her towards her intended destination and allowed her to board the bus. Instead, the bus allegedly continued along a different route and the girl was subjected to a sexual assault while the vehicle was moving.

According to the police account, the bus travelled for around 47 kilometres before the girl was eventually left near the Kashmere Gate area.

 Girl Had Asked for Directions

Police said the girl had left her home on August 4 and was attempting to reach the Noida area. During the night, heavy rain and poor visibility reportedly caused her to get off at the wrong location.

She subsequently stopped a sleeper bus and asked the people associated with the vehicle for directions. The conductor allegedly told her that she could be taken towards the area she wanted to reach.

The girl then boarded the bus, expecting to reach her destination safely. Police allege that the situation changed after she entered the vehicle.

 Case Reported Near Kashmere Gate

According to investigators, the girl was later left near the Kashmere Gate area. She subsequently approached the police and reported the incident.

Police arranged a medical examination and registered a case based on her complaint. The case includes provisions relating to sexual assault, kidnapping and physical assault.

Since the complainant is a minor, authorities have maintained confidentiality regarding her identity.

 CCTV Helped Police Identify Suspects

A police team was formed to investigate the case. Investigators examined CCTV footage from locations along the suspected route of the bus.

According to police, the footage and other evidence helped investigators identify the driver and conductor. Both suspects were subsequently arrested from the Timarpur parking area.

The accused have been identified as driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep. Police have also seized the sleeper bus allegedly involved in the incident.

Investigation Continues

Investigators are examining the complete sequence of events and the route taken by the bus. Police are also looking into who else may have been present in or around the vehicle during the relevant period.

CCTV footage, vehicle movement records and other available evidence are being examined. Investigators are also questioning the arrested suspects to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

 Protection of Minor's Identity

As the case involves a minor, her identity has not been disclosed. Authorities are required to protect the identity of child victims in cases involving sexual offences.

The girl is being provided necessary medical and legal assistance, while further proceedings will depend on the ongoing investigation and court process.
