India&rsquo Major Space Leap, GSLV-F17 Successfully Deploys EOS-05


India has achieved another major milestone in space technology with the successful launch of the GSLV-F17 mission. The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in the early hours of September 4, 2026.

The launch took place at 2:55 am, when most of the country was asleep. Within approximately 19 minutes, the GSLV-F17 rocket completed its mission and placed EOS-05 into its designated geosynchronous orbit.

The successful mission is particularly significant because it comes after a period in which India’s space programme faced several technical challenges. The latest achievement has therefore provided a major boost to confidence in ISRO’s launch systems, engineering capabilities and mission management.

Why GSLV is called the ‘Naughty Boy’
